What is a Life Transition?

We all experience life transitions throughout our lives. These transitions can happen at any time and can be either planned or unplanned. It’s inevitable that these transitions will happen, but some take us by surprise. They can feel exciting, but they can also feel challenging. Transitions can occur at any age, stage in life, and at any given moment. The more challenging of transitions can cause tremendous grief and turmoil and can disrupt our lives. Other transitions can bring us more in alignment with who we are, and what we want. Transitions, whether good or bad, can lead to tremendous growth and expansion. It’s how we choose to navigate them that is pivotal to the positive outcomes.

True Essence Wellness looks at all sides of a life transition — emotional, physical, intellectual, and physiological — to be able to connect mind and body. We hold space so that our clients are able to eventually let go of the past, accept what the future holds and begin to feel hopeful about living a fulfilled life.

“You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.”

— Wayne W. Dyer

Life Transitions can Look Like:

  • Moving cities or households

  • Changing careers

  • Attending new schools

  • Starting or ending a relationship

  • Having a child

  • Losing a loved one

  • Living with health issues

  • Experiencing sudden financial gain or loss

  • Entering a different stage in life.

We have all experienced one or more of the above transitions. Challenges may arise with boundaries, decision making, communication, and identity crisis. When experiencing a lack of confidence, indecision, and clarity, you may be left feeling anxious, depressed, lonely, overwhelmed, and lost and stuck.

I approach therapy using the principles of transpersonal psychology by supporting you to connect with your highest potential. This is done by meeting you where you are at, supporting you in areas where you may feel stuck, and exploring with a gentle curiosity.

Transpersonal psychology is based on the bridging of the spiritual and human experience. Transformation is possible by connecting with our highest potentials, looking beyond your limiting beliefs, and harnessing the wisdom, compassion, and unconditional love that’s inside of you.
